Samsung has announced the new Galaxy Note 7, which blends the best features of its Note line with the best features of its S7 series launched earlier this year. The Note 7 has a dual-curved display and iris scanner and is water resistant. It will come in three colors in the US when it hits stores on August 19th: silver, black, and a unique, light blue that Samsung calls "Blue Coral."
Samsung Galaxy Note 7: Release date, specs and everything you need to know Samsung has announced a third flagship smartphone to its 2016 line-up at an event in New York. The Galaxy Note 7 joins the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edgeand brings the popular S-Pen device back to Europe after we missed out on last year's Note 5.
As you might expect, the Note 7 brings some excellent specs with it along with a beautiful design that follows a similar path to the S7 edge. It jumps a digit, skipping the Note 6 name altogether, in order to complement the other two flagships and minimise confusion.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7: Release date and price
The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will hit shelves on 2 September. It will be available to pre-order from 16 August.
Pricing has yet to be announced but we will update this feature as soon as we know how much the Galaxy Note 7 will cost.
Samsung Galaxy Note 7: Where can I get it?
GiffGaff and O2 have both announced they will be stocking the device but neither detailed pricing. O2 has said the Note 7 will be available on its Refresh tariff.
Vodafone, Three and EE have also all announced they too will be stocking the Note 7 but again, no pricing information has been made available as yet.
Samsung Galaxy Note 7: Design
The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 features a symmetrical design from top to bottom and from front to back, if you ignore the protruding camera lens on the rear.

It has curved glass on both sides, following in the footsteps of the Galaxy S7edge, only a little squarer and there is no flat alternative for the Note. Curved is your only option, available in three colours comprising Black Oynx, Blue Coral and Silver Titanium, although gold will also be available in some territories.
The Note 7 measures 153.5 x 73.9 x 7.9mm, weighs 169g and introduces IP68 water and dust resistance, the latter of which includes the S-Pen. There is a fingerprint sensor within the front home button, like the S7, S7 edge and Note 5, but the Note 7 also introduces an iris scanner.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7: Display
Despite rumours suggesting the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 might see a screen size increase, the new device sticks at the Note's traditional 5.7-inches.
There is a curved Super AMOLED display on board with a Quad HD resolution, putting its pixel density at 515ppi. That's a little lower than the S7 edge, but the human eye really isn't going to be able to notice that 19-pixel difference per inch.
Samsung has also made the Note 7's display more responsive. In fact, it is claimed to be double that of the Note 5 and it features 4,096 levels of pressure. The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has officially launched on Tuesday, confirming the many weeks of rumors about its curved design, 5.7-inch display, top-of-the-line specs and S Pen stylus.
iPhone 6S Plus
The Note 7 is the large-screen phone for 2016 that Android power users have been anxiously waiting to upgrade to, and it takes several cues from the awesome Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
Sure, the S7 Edge stretched fingertips into near-phablet territory with a 5.5-inch display in March. But it didn't have two Note-series staples: a 5.7-inch screen and the S Pen.

The Note 7 maximizes the screen space, while minimizing the body and bezels. Returning features like a microSD card slot and IP68 waterproof rating are welcome, and the new iris scanner is turning heads.
The new phablet is especially anticipated in the UK and Europe – their S Pen upgrade is long overdue, as Samsung made the bizarre decision not to launch the Galaxy Note 5 outside of the US and a few other countries.

Just don't call it the Samsung Galaxy Note 6. The Galaxy Note 7 name is meant to bring it into line with the Galaxy S7 series – and steal the thunder of the upcoming iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
Samsung Galaxy Note 7 release date and price
The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 announcement happened this week, Tuesday, August 2, at Samsung's Unpacked event, and we were there in New York and London to go hands-on.
The actual device can be pre-ordered from August 3, while the official delivery date is August 19 in the US and Australia. That's also the physical release date for the new Samsung Gear VR with a USB-C connection. The Note 7 will come in four colors: Coral Blue, Gold, Silver and Black.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 UK release date is a little later: September 2. UK pre-orders open on August 16, and it will only be available in Black and Coral Blue at first.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 pricing is being worked out by US carriers. T-Mobile it for $32.50 for 24 months and $69.99 upfront, or a retail price of $849.99. Verizon is $36 a month for the same two years (no upfront fee), or $864 at full retail price. AT&T has it for a slightly higher $36.67 over the course of 24 months or $880. Sprint has yet to announce pricing details.
That's more than the Galaxy S7 Edge price, which debuted at $299 on contract ($769 SIM-free unlocked four months after it launched), or $33 monthly.
The Samsung Note 7 UK price is simpler, and unsurprisingly big, too: £749. That's a big bump from the S7 Edge, which is priced at £640 when it launched four months ago.
In Australia, the S7 Edge is costs AU$1,249 – expect the Note 7 to hit a new high for smartphones there when the final price is announced. Galaxy Note 7 will be available in Australia from Telstra, Optus, Vodafone, Virgin Mobile, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Samsung Retail and Samsung's online store.
If you preorder a Galaxy Note 7 in the US and Australia between August 5 and August 18, you'll receive a bonus at certain stores: either a Samsung Gear Fit 2 or a Samsung 256GB microSD card, your choice .
