Who didn't love Teddy Ruxpin? This animatronic pal was state-of-the-art at the time (though looking back, he was totally creepy). Turn him on, and his eyes blinked, he talked to you, and even told stories — all by way of a little cassette in his back. Considering this guy was named the bestselling toy of 1985 and 1986, we're not surprised to see him earning major bucks as a collector's item.
Now is not the time to wonder if you paid the electric bill. Instead of worrying or wondering, pay those bills online, in advance.

Most banks let you pay bills online and even let you schedule payments in advance. If you’re a Bank of America customer and have signed up for Online Banking (see tip #1), you can learn more about how you can pay your bills online or set up your automatic payments now. And if you have a trip coming up, you might want to sign up for paperless billing, too—it means less paper waiting for you when you get home.
Let your bank or credit card company know you’re traveling
You’ve just finished the most amazing meal on your vacation. You go to pay for it and your card is declined. Why? Because banks and credit card companies often have fraud-monitoring systems that may interpret unusual card activity as potential fraud. And when they see a purchase come in from another country, they may decline the charge as a way to protect you.

Setting a travel notice before departure lets your bank or credit card company know you’re in control of your cards, so you can use them worry-free. Bank of America customers can create a travel notice by signing in to Online Banking or Mobile Banking. Or call 1.800.432.1000 for assistance.
Make copies of your important documents
Think of this one as a security blanket. In case of emergencies, make 2 copies of your passport, credit cards and other travel documents. Leave 1 copy with a friend or relative at home and bring the other copy with you. Also, it’s a good idea to let someone know your exact travel itinerary.
Put a hold on your mail
Speaking of telling people about your travel plans, make sure your mail doesn’t pile up while you’re gone. Before you leave, request Hold Mail Service from the U.S. Postal Service.
Take extra precautions when going abroad
If you’re traveling internationally, take steps to ensure you can safely access your accounts from outside the United States. Make sure you know your Online Banking security challenge question—you’ll need the answer if you want to log in from a computer you’ve never used before. It’s also a good idea to prepare your pin before traveling abroad. Some international ATMs only support 4 digit pins. Be sure your PIN does not start with a 0, and know your PIN by the numbers, as some ATMs outside the United States do not have letters on the keypads. To change your PIN prior to traveling, select “More Options”, select “Change PIN” and follow the screen prompts at a Bank of America ATM.

If you’ll be out of the country for a while and think you might need to transfer funds or add a Bill Pay recipient while you’re abroad, think about getting a Bank of America SafePass® Card. With a SafePass® Card, you can continue to securely conduct sensitive banking transactions almost anywhere in the world—even abroad, where you’re unable to receive text messages. But you’ll need to plan ahead, since cards take about 10 days for delivery and cannot be mailed outside the U.S.
Order foreign currency before leaving the country
Once you land, you’ll want to have local currency ready to go. Get that currency before you leave, so you won’t have to worry about tracking down an open currency exchange the moment you arrive. You’ll be ready to pay for taxis, meals or tips as soon as you touch down. If you’re a Bank of America customer, you can also order your foreign currency online in advance.
Check your health coverage
On the off chance you need medical care while you’re traveling, make sure you know what your health insurance will and won’t cover. If your insurance doesn’t cover you while you’re away, consider buying a short-term policy that will. You can find policies through private companies that offer insurance plans that cover medical expenses while you’re abroad.
Make sure your credit cards are travel-ready
Bring at least 2 valid, permanent cards with you on your trip, in case one gets lost or stolen. Keep in mind that temporary cards won’t always work, and replacement cards can take several days to arrive. Double-check the expiration dates, and write down the numbers for customer service—keep these in a separate, safe place in case you need to call them for any reason. You might also think about applying for a Travel Rewards Card to earn travel rewards for your purchases. Some cards also come with unique benefits and features designed specifically for frequent travelers.
Best And Worst Car Insurance
For international trips, try to obtain a “Chip Card,” a new type of credit or debit card that is emerging as the industry security standard. Unlike magnetic strip cards, Chip Cards encrypt transaction information right at the point of service, making it more difficult to counterfeit or copy the data on the chip when used at a chip-enabled terminal.
